Based in the beautiful Cornish countryside, Loveny is an internationally renowned Choir with links both here and overseas. We always love to see new members and regularly meet at our base of St Neot.

The choir takes it's name from the River Loveny, a tributary of the River Fowey, and which flows through it's home parish of St. Neot situated on the southern slopes of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall.

St. Neot is just a small, but beautiful village at head of the river valley and as a result there are very few members of the choir who come from the village and it's surrounding countryside.

The Choir, however attracts choristers from as far afield as St,Austell and Bodmin in the West, Camelford in the North, Tavistock and Plymouth in the East. This is due, in the main to the 'Loveny Sound'. The style and type of music the choir produces, it's insistance on accuracy and passion in performance.

The choir's activities are not restricted solely to singing, Loveny is one of the most social choirs in the County with a wide range of activities going on throughout the year, mostly run by the Loveny Ladies. {Bless 'em !}

Nick Hart

For one man the evening of the 12th April at St Cleer Parish Church was to be somewhat memorable.

The choir were invited to sing in aid of church funds and the atmosphere in the church was warm and loving as there had been two weddings prior to the concert and the happiness still prevailed.

As their resident Musical Director Dorothy Andrews was away on a well earned break Nick Hart, who had directed the choir for some seventeen years having moved on to establish his own very successful choir amongst other things, was invited to do the 'honours' on Saturday.

The choir, as always, gave a varied and emotional concert splendidly supported by Alison Harvey. soprano, and Colin Arthur top tenor with the choir,and of course the inimitable Sarah Scott on piano.

The memorable part of the evening is that unbeknown to Nick the choir had unanimously agreed the he be made Honourary Vice President for Life.

The announcement made by David Wherry to Nick had him possibly for the first time in his life lost for words. Needless to say Nick accepted with all the grace and dignity of a true professional.

To make up for loss of words he went on to direct the choir with all the energy and enthusiasm that only happens when emotion takes over.

The evening ended rapturously with a fine selection from 'Les Miserables' and choir and audience ended with 'Morte Criste'.
