Best Cornish Choir 40 voices and under

What a weekend Loveny Male Voice Choir had taking part in the International Male Voice Choral Festival in which choirs from all over the world took part, seventy in all in venues throughout the county.

On Friday 1st May Loveny hosted one of the Regional Concerts in St Neot Parish Church with Plymouth Clarion Choir, Colne Valley Male Voice Choir from Yorkshire and the Gentlemen Singers from the Czech Republic.

On Saturday morning Loveny took part in the competition in the Hall for Cornwall, and were delighted to win the cup for the best Cornish choir in the forty voices and under category. For this Loveny thanks it’s Musical Director Richard Braebrook for his encouragement and musical expertise. The choir would also like to thank Clive Ellison for accompanying them on the piano for the competition and the evening concert, a very accomplished musician.

The finale for Loveny was taking part in the Saturday evening concert in the Hall for Cornwall with Blaenavon Male Voice Choir from Wales, Tallinn University Men’s Choir from Estonia, Kidderminster Male Choir, Colne Valley Choir and the Gentlemen Singers from the Czech Republic.

All in all the festival was a great celebration of male voice singing, Loveny are looking forward to the next one in two years time.

Loveny’s next concert will be on Saturday 16th May at 730pm in Golant Church, which will be part of the community events for the Fowey Festival.

Loveny Male Voice Choir practice every Thursday from 730pm in St Neot village hall; new members are always welcome. For further information contact Dave on 01208 368773, or just turn up.
