Concert at Loveny's home, St Neot
The Choir was delighted to have Ellen Wade as the soloist at our concert in St Neot Village Hall on Saturday 10th September. What a wonderful voice she has, a true professional. Ellen has had an interesting musical career, indeed she was asked to sing with the Seekers in the sixties on their tour of UK when Judith Durham was recuperating from an illness.
Ellen sang six pieces, Over the Rainbow made famous by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz, She Moved Through the Fair a beautiful Irish folk song, and the romantic Moon River completed her first set. Later she sang Send in the Clowns from the musical A Little Night Music, Annie’s Song written and sung originally by John Denver and finally Edelweiss from the Sound of Music, and got the audience to participate in singing along.
Loveny sang a varied selection of songs from their repertoire, such as, You Raise Me Up made famous by the boy band West Life, The Rose which was sung originally sung by Bette Midler, Bring him home from the musical Les Miserables, and African Prayer arranged by Eric Jones with the music by Enoch Sontaga. The Choir and Ellen where given enthusiastic applause from the audience throughout the concert. The proceeds of the concert went to the Methodist Chapel in St Neot in aid of improvements.
