St Agnes and Looe RNLI
On August 13th shortly after returning from Brittany, the Choir were in concert at St Agnes Parish Church, a very lovely church where the choir has sung several times before. The soloist for the evening was Rebekah Scamp, a very talented young lady, who has performed with Loveny on previous occasions. Judging by the rapturous applause throughout the concert, the audience, many of whom were holidaymakers, enjoyed it greatly. The concert was in aid of Church funds and there was a retiring collection for the RNLI.
Then on Tuesday 23rd August the Choir were invited to sing in the RNLI Boathouse in Looe. The concert was a great success and surprisingly the boathouse has great acoustics. The soloists this time were Helen and John White who had accompanied the Choir to Brittany, and our very own bass chorister Roger James who recited a poem by the Cornish poet David Prowse about Lifeboatmen, most appropriate on this occasion. The proceeds of the concert went to the RNLI. Many Choristers commented on how atmospheric the evening was, a pleasant summers evening singing to open doors, watching the fishing boats returning to the harbour....and towards the close....the tide gently lapping towards the boathouse doors!
