Varied and Lively Week for Loveny
Following on from our Gala Concert in Liskeard on Saturday 22nd October, the Choir has just had a very busy week. On Thursday 27th, we had a joint concert with Ardudwy Male Voice Choir from Harlech in North Wales. The concert was held in, and in aid of, Lanivet Church. The Church was full and from all reports, both Choirs enjoyed the concert, as did the audience.
On Saturday 29th October Loveny held another joint concert in St Petrocs Church Bodmin, this time with Bodmin Town Band. The band has a great musical reputation and this concert confirmed how really good they are, their standard of musicianship is second to none. Their MD John Maines, was kind enough to compliment Loveny on their performance, 'praise indeed from him'.
The concert was in aid of a very worthy cause, the crowd funding appeal for the purchase of the Bodmin Public Rooms. Every town has a public hall to hold a variety of community events such as amateur dramatics, band and choir concerts, pantomimes and jumble sales for good causes. The people of Bodmin deserve to have their own, and hopefully this concert will help towards a successful acquisition of the facility for them. The concert was a great success with the audience, which was clearly demonstrated by the hearty applause given to the band and choir throughout the evening. The MC for both concerts was our own John Ead, born and bred in Bodmin, who as always compered proceedings in his own humorous and entertaining manner.
Our next concert is on Saturday 19th November in Kenwyn Church at 7.30pm, the concert is in aid of Wired Cornwall which is for stroke and brain injured patients.
