Une belle soirée
The Choir would normally practice on a Thursday evening, but as our friends from Pont Croix in Brittany were in the Duchy and we had been invited to join them for an evening with the Constantine and Gweek Twinning Association, we could hardly say no! We will never forget the wonderful time we had in Benodet, Douarnenez and Pont Croix last year, the crowning glory of which was the presentation by the Mairie, of honorary citizenship of Pont Croix. Whilst we could not reciprocate, our Concert Secretary Frank Evans was determined that the occasion of our being granted honorary citizenship should not go by without showing the Choir's appreciation, and had in the preceding months, despite very considerable personal difficulties, very skillfully crafted a commemorative plaque from 'Loveny Oak'.
The venue for the gathering was the 'Tolmen Centre' in Constantine, and with an important concert in just over a weeks time, good use was made of the upstairs theatre to go through the repertoire for the forthcoming CIMCF concert on April 28th, before joining our hosts for a fantastic buffet, and a glass....or two of wine.
Before singing in appreciation of our hosts, the plaque was presented to the representative of the Pont Croix office of the Mairie, Alex Kerivel. We then sang a variety of songs from both our concert and 'afterglow' repertoire, our MD Colin and Accompanist Mike Jones sang their lovely duet 'Come Walk with Me', and we were treated to a couple of Breton songs by the visitors, to the delight of our Breton and Cornish audience alike. A most enjoyable time was had by all!
Our warmest thanks go to Mary Owen and the Constantine and Gweek Twinning Association, our 'fellow Citizens' and friends from Pont Croix, and our very own Frank Evans for his very special contribution to the occasion.
