Though it had been decidedly changeable throughout the day, our return to the bandstand in Padstow found us enjoying the warm sunshine for the second time in less than a month. As a result our singing was enjoyed by a large audience and passers by, with many children seated cross-legged on the road in front of the Choir. It was great to see so many people listening, and we thank them for the contributions that continued to drop in our buckets.
Many thanks to our MD Colin, Accompanist David Robinson, MC John Ead...and not least Lorena Ead who had taken on the job of 'page turner' to allow David to keep on track in the gusty breeze. Thanks also to all the 'Lads' who turned up to support each other, many of whom expected to receive an email cancelling the event....at least on the basis of the weather across the middle of the County during the day.
Afterwards we reconvened for refreshment in The Harbour Inn, where we sang heartily as always. On this occasion, a young lady visiting from North Dakota in the USA called Stephanie, asked us to sing 'Away from the Roll of the Sea' for her, not a song we normally 'afterglow' but of course we obliged. In return she sang beautifully a solo of her own choice, which was much appreciated by us all. We hope that we added some extra joy to her visit to Cornwall. Many thanks to the 'Harbour' for again providing us with a very welcome buffet supper, we hope to see you again next year!
