Apart from a small socially distanced Carol Sing before Christmas, it has been some 15 months since the Covid Pandemic curtailed our activities as a Choir singing to the public. Choirs all over the country have suffered the same issues, but though not ideal, we have at least had the benefit of practising in a barn at our Deputy MD's farm. This has enabled us to keep 'familiar' with the music, though socially distancing has not allowed us to fully appreciate harmonies between sections. With very short notice, the threat of heavy showers, needing a substitute Accompanist, and being oh so very very rusty .... a number of stalwarts gathered at the bandstand on the 'Killacourt' in
Newquay on the afternoon of Sunday 4th July to declare our return!
Alternating hour long sets with Newquay based 'Oll an Gwella', the large gathering of locals and holidaymakers heard almost four hours of music, basking in glorious, warm and very welcome sunshine. The recent refurbishment of the facilities, with stepped areas and deck chairs provided a perfect setting for us, and we hope to return later in the year.
Many thanks to Newquay Town Council for the invitation, to our friends in 'Oll an Gwella' and also for the use of their PA, to our Accompanist Mark Smith for helping us out yet again, and of course our MD Marcus Alleyne.
