Loveny Male Voice Choir Tour to Brittany – June 2025

Our long-awaited tour to Brittany this June was an unforgettable experience, and for me personally, my first tour as Musical Director of Loveny Male Voice Choir. From the moment we boarded the coach in Cornwall, the sense of camaraderie, humour, and anticipation set the tone for what turned out to be an extraordinary few days.

 

Even before we reached France, the choir was in fine voice. During the ferry crossing, we gave an impromptu performance for fellow passengers, a spontaneous burst of harmony that drew smiles, applause, and even a few singalongs. It was a perfect icebreaker and a wonderful reminder of how music can bring people together, wherever we are.

 

One of the true highlights of the trip was our concert in the beautiful town of Pont-Croix. The setting, a stunning church filled with eager listeners, created an atmosphere that will stay with us for years to come. So many people arrived that extra chairs had to be brought in before we could begin! The packed audience listened with great enthusiasm, and the choir responded with one of its finest performances to date. The church’s acoustics carried every note beautifully, and the warmth of the applause at the end said everything about the connection we’d made.

 

Of course, no Loveny tour would be complete without our legendary afterglow sessions, and Benodet, our hotel location, didn’t disappoint. Late into the night, songs were shared, harmonies “improvised”, and friendships strengthened over a glass (or two) of local refreshment. These moments, as much as the concerts themselves, capture the spirit of Loveny: a group of men who love singing, laughter, and the joy of making music together.

 

A huge and heartfelt thank you to Brian Crowle, whose tireless work and meticulous planning made the whole trip possible. Every detail, from travel and accommodation to venues and meals, was superbly organised, allowing the rest of us simply to enjoy the music and the company.

 

As we returned home, tired but elated, it was clear that the Brittany tour had left its mark. The choir sounded stronger than ever, the friendships deeper, and the memories lasting. For me, it was a privilege and a joy to lead such a wonderful group of singers on this adventure.
